Top 3 Family Vacations

Here is a list of family vacations that require more money and more planning that are great for all ages.

1. Disney World:

Disney is definitely a vacation that needs to be planned months ahead of time. So, either find yourself a Disney Vacation planner who knows all the ins and outs of Disney or marry someone who loves Disney way too much! In my case, I married someone who ABSOLUTY loved going to Disney. Each vacation here has been magical and always wanting to come back time and time again. Something that's not magical, the heat! Listen here "Summer is incredibly HOT!" You sweat more than you will ever sweat before, especially when you have strollers to push and kiddos to give piggyback rides too. I recommend November and April to go, as its still warm enough to swim but not a crazy hot to walk around all day. As a family, we have been here several times. We have taken the children as babies, toddlers and as grade schoolers (5-12 years old). Don't worry about their age, just do it!

2. Gatlinburg, Tennesse:

One of my families' favorite vacations that they still talk about. For this vacation we rented a cabin an Airbnb. This was the first time we used Airbnb, and we count have been any happier. The cabin was clean and spacious. The cabin was a perfect fit for our family. For the around $200 a day, we had enough space to accommodate us all. There were beds for everyone, pool table, hot tub and an upstairs/downstairs deck. The view was amazing, as we were on top of the smokey mountains! It felt like we were in the clouds. We were told by the locals, you will see bears, and sure enough we did! After being at our cabin less than 2 hours, we saw a baby bear followed by its mama and 3 more cubs a few minutes later.  We did not let the kids play outside but allowed them to go on the deck as long as we were out there. The trip up the mountain took about 5 minutes.

Must do's:

3. Lake Lawn Resort in Delevan Wisconsin:

One of my favorite getaways about an hour and a half from the Chicago suburbs. I grew up going here and now take my own children. Lake Lawn has so much to offer any season of the year. In the summer, there are 2 pools outside to enjoy, plenty of outside grassy areas to play in and calming views of Lake Delevan. They offer boat rentals, boat tours, and spa services. My children also enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub, and not having to leave to eat. Isle of Capri is a casual cafe that is family friendly as well the Look Out Bar and Eatery. For a more intimate experience, eat at 1878 On the Lake. As for the rooms, our family always book the King Loft as it offers a little more space for a family of 5.

Must do's:

  • Take advantage of the Events at LLR- There is always something to do while you stay here. Check out their events tab for events such as live bands, holiday events, brunches, and dinner and a show.
  • Bucky's playhouse- Offers activities for children to do such as bingo, scavenger hunts and games.
  • Take a walk and explore-There is so much to see when you take advantage of the scenery around you. There are fire pits with seating near the lakes edge, plenty of walking paths, and poolside games to enjoy.
